Re: A little to late

Actually I did look up the stats and the Bears are 12th in TOTAL offense which is what you stated in your earlier post if Im not mistaken you said they had the #1 offense in the league. Anybody who has watched a Bears football game this season knows the offense SUCKS A$$. Grossman is a wild gunslinger. The offensive line is weak and you can mark it down that the Bears will win only 1 playoff game if that and it will be agasint a mediocere NFC team like the Rams.

    Re: A little to late

I think it's a good move by Coach Gibbs, but the Skins have a ton of other issues that need to be dealt with also. The secondary stinks, for some reason our defense has forgotten how to tackle, our punter and field goal kicker suck, the offensive line is suspect, and the offensive playcalling is insane (draw, screen left, screen right, punt) 700 pages of nothing.

My personal opinion is that Gibbs should not have hired Saunders and should have kept control of the offense. If you look back at last season the offense wasn't really that bad, it was only 1 or 2 players from being really good in fact.

As a long time Redskins diehard it all goes back continuity. We spend too much on crappy free agents, we want the quick fix every offseason, and we don't build through the draft.

I long for the days of Riggo and The Hogs, but instead I'm stuck with high expectations in the spring and summer filled with unfulfilled promises year after year in the fall. I'm beginning to wonder if they'll ever win another Super Bowl in my lifetime.

    Re: A little to late

The Bears will win the NFC easily. Who will beat them? The Giants proved they couldn't do it. The Seahawks couldn't do it. I know their not "great", but barring any major injuries, they will represent the NFC in the Super Bowl.

Now as far as Grossman goes, once again I agree with Mega, they guy is still practically a rookie. They guy has good mechanics and will be a good QB in the future. The only thing they will hamper him, maybe, is being injury prone. They do need another receiver to compensate Mushin on the other side, or someone needs to step up.

Yes Grossman is young and it shows greatly. The Bears just have shown tremendous vulnerablity this season. Schedule is weak also, I mean anybody can beat up on the 49ers and the Packers all season. Come playoff time the Eagles, Giants, and Panthers will all be better than the Bears.

    Re: A little to late

Very good post. I am, as well, a die-hard Skins fan. First and foremost, Gibbs should be calling the plays. Second, how about addressing legitimate concerns (ie. QB) in the off-season. Snyder wastes money with some questionable signings. The secondary is no good. Archuleta, IMO, was another wasted off-season pickup. Not playing worth a [censored] right now. The only prescence in our secondary is Taylor.

What I don't understand is this team has the potential to be pretty good, and we aren't seeing that.

The only team is see that could beat the Bears are the Giants. But if they meet again, in the playoofs, it will be in Chicago. Big difference there, especially playoff time.

    Re: A little to late

We'll we had the shortest training camp of any NFL team (mistake #1), the pre-season was nothing short of a joke: not running the new system, sitting people out (mistake #2),losing too many people over the last 2 seasons on the defensive side of the ball (Mistake #3): Arrington(didn't like him and still don't but a good player)Ryan Clark (could be the most missed Redskin! See A.A., Mike Rumph, and Kenny Wrong), Walt Harris (average but better than we have now)Antonio Pierce (playmaker). There are others as well, and you can't be strong year after year when you lose these type of players.

The Redskins under Gibbs are a power running football team and they've abandoned that for the glitz and glamour of a "high profile" offense that couldn't beat MECC's football team right now. Maybe this weekend could give us the spark, but I also said that after the Cowgirl game.

Once again, final nfl rankings are based upon points. Just like last season when Tampa Bay gave up less points than Chicago, they earned the statistic of #1 ranked nfl defense. Just for example, its sort of like when Clintwood gets a whole lot of yards on Burton and Burton still wins the game by 3 touchdowns. You play to score points, you get yards to get points. If you get a whole lot of yards and dont score points you dont win.

As for the schedule, Seattle played the worst schedule in the league last year, it sure didnt stop them from playing in the superbowl now did it. Chicago ends up playing the AFC East and the NFC West, as well as all the NFC division winners. Its not their fault Tampa is having a bad year, they have no control over that. They already beat the two other division leaders in the nfc so your schedule arguement holds little validity. The Packers have won less win than the Eagles and the Cowboys so Im not exactly sure where you come up with half this stuff. So youre saying the Bears whoop up on a Packers team thats 4-5 but the 5-4 eagles are going to beat the Bears in the playoffs? You make little sense.

Chicago very well could lose in the playoffs, first round even, but I can come up with better reasons than "they play a weak schedule" and "their offense sucks". Nobody outside of you thinks anything like that. Every single team in the nfl is good, even the Raiders could beat the Bears, there are no East Carolina's on any team's schedule in the NFL.

    Re: A little to late

I like the Bears and I love there style of football. But there is no reason to be unrealisitic about them. Grossman is horriable IMO. They are extremely vulnerable to a team that has a solid run defense and good defensive ends. Whatever happens, happens, but I'm far from sold on them. Yes the Eagles and the Panthers records are a little suspect, but I think that when playoff time comes around, these will be the teams to beat.

    Re: A little to late

How am I being unrealistic, never did I once say they were the best offense in the league. I however did say they have a good offense. Muhammad and Berrien are excellent receivers, Clark is on the verge of the pro bowl.

If Grossman is so horrible then I guess Tom Brady is too since their stats are relatively the same. Both have an almost identical QB rating.

Of course the Bears are vulnerable, what nfl team isnt vulnerable. The colts havent made it to the superbowl yet. This is the nfl, its not cut and dry, its not college, and its not high school where anyone can almost predict every game and get it right. The Raiders beat the defending superbowl champs and played tough against a good broncos team for 3 quarters. There are no easy games and no weak schedules. Every team has their strenghts and weaknesses. There are no super teams like there once were as a result of free agency. As bad as the Raiders are, they could make the playoffs next year with a few new faces and some promising draft picks. All nfl teams are good.
